One-month delay[edit]

Hi guys. It says above that a backlog is around 5 days. Is it for getting a response here or for a ticket review? I'm asking because my uploads have not been reviewed after a month. In the last couple of days I asked copyrights holders to forward me the e-mails with OTRS permissions they sent you and I have recieved them, so it is not the case of the authors forgetting do send you a proper message or something. I'm talking about 22 pictures from 11th October (starting with File:Lendak men's shirt.jpg) and then another four from 14th October (starting with File:Mala Frankova costumes - FS Frankovcan.jpg). All of them are already marked as deletion candidates with a proper licencing missing for more than 15 days, even though I still haven't been formally notified. OTRS mails were sent in English as the copyrights owners are Slovaks and this language is not supported as I belive. Aʀvєδuι + 19:43, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ticket:2021101210012754, hi @Arvedui89: , please ask them to reply to the VRT agent's mail. –Yahya (talk) 21:02, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Yahya, from back in October or a new one? I assume they haven't seen anything from you, as they have not mentioned it to me last time we spoke. Aʀvєδuι + 10:17, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Arvedui89 The mail was recieved on 10/12/2021 and the agent also replied that day. Yahya (talk) 11:59, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Yahya: , I'll get in touch with them ASAP. I just wanted to mention that the second batch of files (four I mentioned above) were a subject of a copyrights by another entity (folk group represented by its director) and that OTRS mail was sent 18th October. These files are still marked as heading to deletion. Is there any chance for me to take part in it? It took me a few weeks to get their approval (both Mr Vavák – 22 pictures – and mr Lach – four pictures) and I'm affraid it will all collapse because of the bureaucracy, specifically concluded in a foreign language. Aʀvєδuι + 19:27, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Arvedui89: For the second batch (ticket:2021101810001988), FS Frankovčan was asked to resend the permission from an official e-mail account of their organization. But we didn't receive any reply yet. If the images are deleted, they will still be restored after receiving proper permission.Yahya (talk) 20:18, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Yahya – I’m not sure they (Folklorná skupina Frankovčan), folk group from a village of 186 inhabitants, do have an official e-mail account. For sure they do not have an official website, just a Facebook page where I contacted them [1]. by the way their Facebook url ends with jan.lach.984. I'll get in touch with him as well. Aʀvєδuι + 21:36, 19 November 2021 (UTC) [EDIT] (@Yahya: ) I believe Mr Vaváak have sent a reply (your mail went stright to the spam folder), while Mr Lach assured me that they do not have a separate e-mail adress. What do we do now? Aʀvєδuι + 12:11, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Pinging @Krd: Yahya (talk) 14:13, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What exactly is the question? --Krd 09:09, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Yahya and Krd: Ok, to sum things up: first part of my application is resolved, as tickets were finally given to 22 Miroslav Vavák’s pictures. However there are still four photos (1, 2, 3, 4) I uploaded on the 14th October and a permission was sent on the 18th October. Copyright holder here is a small folk group Frankovčan on which behalf permission was granted by its principal/director Ján Lach. He was subsequently asked to send it from Frankovčan’s e-mail account which they do not have. They do not have a website either, what does not stop them from existing. Question is: Is posessing a separate e-mail adress necessary to effectively give permission for using pictures under certain licence? If not, what should I as an uploader, or the copyright owner, do to mark files as properly licenced rather than them being nominated for deletion for the second month running? If it will help, I have saved our whole e-mail conversation, however it was conducted in Slovak. Aʀvєδuι + 07:43, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is not required to have any special e-mail address, but any kind of other feedback from the copyright holder is required explaining the situation, because otherwise the ticket cannot be processed further. Please ask the just to respond with anything reasonable. --Krd 17:09, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd: I'm on my way. However in the future pinging me would help saving time. Just saying. Aʀvєδuι + 07:59, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Individual pings are no possible with the current workload. Feel free to encourage the permission sender to keep you in CC. --Krd 11:28, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd - We're back in contact already. Sadly Gmail seems to mark Wikimedia adresses as spam once again. Aʀvєδuι + 23:41, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd: cant see how this is resolved, as there is still no change in licence marking of the four releveant files, while an additional mail was sent four days ago according to the instructions above. Aʀvєδuι + 14:07, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please help to verify image file: G8Db3.jpeg permission[edit]

Till now still have no VRTS members to verify this image file: G8Db3.jpeg

url: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:G8Db3.jpeg

Anyone who holds VRTS account, could you please help to verify this permission,Thank you!

I've sent in an email about this file, but the file page have a notice said :”The email is in a queue awaiting processing. For an update on the issue, please contact someone else with a VRTS account, or the VRT noticeboard. If a valid permission is not provided within 30 days of the first response by a VRT agent, this file will be deleted.”

Some things: a) The ticket it's from today (21:56 22/11 at South America right now). It could take some time to answer. b) The agent has made a question but it's still unanswered. c) Yet, the source point to a different photo, so is not possible to verify the license. Regards. --Ganímedes (talk) 00:55, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please tell me that the source of this image File:謝大俠.jpg url : File:謝大俠.jpg - Wikimedia Commons have no listed source ,it's just wrote Own work. Why doesn't he encounter the warning of being deleted? Did you engrave me deliberately? Is there a dark operation behind Wikimedia Commons ? Many pictures are no sources, and there is no warning of deletion. Can you tell me why? 212.129.81.236 05:38, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand what you mean (and the extra drama it's pointless): you've sent permission for this file: [2], naming this web as source: [3]. It's pretty much obvious these are *not* the same files, even when could be shoot the same day, right? --Ganímedes (talk) 10:25, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is a same file, this picture is one of the file’s picture ,was included inside the Album, The source and usage rights are very clear .The proof and evidence submitted are sufficient, not pointless. 212.129.85.190 13:41, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously not, if one looks at from and the other is looking to the side. Link the exact URL of the source of the file uploaded to commons. --Ganímedes (talk) 22:48, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ganímedes: https://www.instagram.com/p/CVdlctKjpnj/?utm_medium=copy_link is an album; the subject photo is picture 3 of 9 in that album; click the little right arrow near the right border twice. I also added to Ticket:2021112210007071.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 19:21, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Paintings uploaded by User:René Cheng[edit]

Each of these has "This painting is copyright protected by law." Are there permissions for these? Thanks, Krok6kola (talk) 00:11, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is no permission found in the permissions queue on VRT. BTW, the Glowing Marilyn appears a derivative work of this. Ellywa (talk) 01:02, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. So I should nominate them for deletion? Krok6kola (talk) 01:26, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
They claim to be the artist, and absent any trace of the paintings on an external website, there is no need for COM:VRT. If we get a VRT permission, it will be completely useless, as it will just be an email from an unverifiable address claiming to be the author, which is no more convincing than a Commons account; I cannot find any publicly available email address for this artist online. So we can just COM:AGF that the uploader is who they claim to be. However, if the paintings are COM:DW of other images, then that is a valid cause for concern. -- King of ♥ 00:02, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fully agree. Ellywa (talk) 07:05, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How to obtain permission for works that are too time-consuming for holder to upload[edit]

I'm looking to ask the Washington Legislative Information Center for permission for a few thousand photos housed in PDFs here as well 15 (only necessary since 1989) from each of [4] and [5]. How do I go about doing this, as it would be a potentially major waste of time to upload all of them before securing permission, and the burden is clearly on me to upload them, making the standard permission process requiring Commons URLs unfeasible. I've considered similar projects before, and certainly will consider others in the future, so it would be great to learn about how I could go about this. A somewhat similar case can be found here: Template:Iowa General Assembly official portrait permission. Star Garnet (talk) 19:56, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just go to COM:RELGEN and fill out the form yourself, providing dummy information if required. You'll get a text output in the end, which you can then modify as appropriate to make it refer to all images or a specific class of images available on a certain website. Send that text to the Washington Legislative Information Center and tell them that if they agree to the terms, they should sign and date it (either electronically or as a scanned document) and send it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Note: Do not ask them to send the completed form to you and then forward it to VRT; they should send it directly. -- King of ♥ 20:02, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File:Gossy Ukanwoke.jpg[edit]

Please validate OTRS permissions for this file. Please ping me in your reply. Timtrent (talk) 16:38, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Timtrent: The text of the license release is valid. There is no hard evidence that the sender is the creator, but given that no copies of this image exist at this high resolution online, COM:AGF should be OK here. (I personally would have probed deeper given the existence of earlier low-resolution copies online, but it definitely falls within agent discretion and I don't see a compelling case to reopen an accepted ticket.) -- King of ♥ 16:52, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@King of Hearts Thank you. It is used at present in a rejected draft on en WP. The draft has been rejected by @Celestina007 whose antennae are usually accurate for likely UPE from Nigeria. WIth a valid text of the licence release this one is more subtle than many, assuming it to be UPE. I am not asking for the ticket to be reopened. Timtrent (talk) 17:02, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File:N964VJ Stuart Jessup.jpg[edit]

I've not asked permission to the author. However, for other files, he has given the same permission such as this one:File:BOEING 747SR-46, JA8119 , JAPAN AIRLINES.jpg or this one: File:B-12255 Stuart Jessup.jpg. So is it okay to copy-paste the VRT. I would like to have some guidance here. Username006 (talk) 13:37, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Username006 Ask the author to send permissions for this file. Ticket:2015071010011928 is valid for two files as mentioned you here. Thanks —MdsShakil (talk) 14:48, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File:Gabriel Boric Font (2021).png[edit]

Hi! Can someone validate the official picture of Chilean President-elect Gabriel Boric? I've made all the process for Boric's team to release the image under a CC-BY-SA license and the permission signed by President-elect Boric himself was sent to OTRS. However, the license tag hasn't been changed and apparently some people are questioning its existence in Commons. Can someone please validate the license, given the image is used in multiple pages and will probably appear on the Main Page? --B1mbo (talk) 04:13, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
